Biosphere is a Pilot facility active in the field of industrial biotechnology for over 20 years. The core activities of the company are the development and scale-up of biotechnological processes. We also offer early development and R&D activities, as well as contract manufacturing, supporting our partners and customers in the industrialization of their biobased solutions from laboratory scale “proof of concept” to commercial processes and products. 

Our expertise and services are designed to provide tailor-made optimized solutions in fermentation, downstream processing and in the development and scale-up of innovative biocatalytic processes. Our facility includes lab scale equipment (0.4-6.5 L), pilot plants (150 L) and demo scale units (1,500 L), all coupled with parallel downstream equipment (disk-stack centrifuge, high-pressure homogenizer, micro and ultra-filtration systems, enzymatic immobilization plant). This allows us to cover all the ranges from TR3 to TRL7.

Biosphere operates under ISO9001 quality system, and the production plant is qualified for the production of food enzymes according to the principles of HACCP and in compliance with the EU Regulation n.852/04.
