Lumbotix – Robotic assistance system for endoscopic lumbar spine surgery
Owner at Dr. Czigleczki Gábor
Budapest, Hungary
About
Lumbotix is an international R&D project focused on the further development of a robotic assistance system for endoscopic lumbar spine surgery.
The project is led by Dr. Czigléczki Center Ltd. (Hungary) and builds on established clinical know-how in endoscopic spine surgery, a defined surgical workflow and an existing laboratory-tested robotic prototype. The objective is to advance the system towards a TRL 6-level demonstrator, capable of supporting and reproducing selected elements of the surgical workflow in a preclinical or anatomically relevant simulation environment.
The planned R&D activities include:
• further development and optimisation of the robotic platform;
• robotic movement and positioning logic;
• haptic / remote operation and force-feedback solutions;
• safety-related operating logic and system interfaces;
• structured collection and evaluation of robotic and validation data;
• development of a healthtech software platform and validation data model;
• laboratory and simulation-based validation;
• usability assessment, training methodology and demonstration workflows;
• preparation for future regulatory, clinical validation and market-entry activities.
The current consortium combines complementary competencies:
• Dr. Czigléczki Center Ltd., Hungary – project lead, clinical and surgical know-how, core robotic concept, system requirements and technical coordination;
• LNP Academy, Hungary – validation workflow, usability assessment, training and surgical workflow evaluation;
• Smartitory Soft S.R.L., Romania – healthtech software platform, validation data management, dashboard, audit logging and system interfaces.
We are looking for additional European R&D partners that can provide complementary expertise in one or more of the following areas:
• surgical robotics and robotic safety;
• safety-critical control and fail-safe system design;
• medical device engineering and system integration;
• simulation-based or anatomically relevant preclinical validation;
• navigation, imaging or robotic interface technologies;
• medtech productisation and future regulatory / clinical validation pathways.
The cooperation is intended for a European collaborative R&D project, particularly within EUREKA / SMART or other relevant international innovation programmes. The partner should contribute genuine R&D capacity and clearly defined technical outputs rather than act solely as a service provider.
Interested organisations are welcome to contact us to discuss potential technical fit, work-package responsibilities and participation in the international consortium.
