Low-CRM Electrocatalysts and Advanced MaNufacturing for Industrial PEM Electrolysers

The project will enter at TRL 5 with at least one low-iridium catalyst/CCM platform already validated in a representative full-size cell and will deliver a TRL 7 catalyst-coated membrane and stack solution demonstrated in an operational renewable-hydrogen environment.

The central innovation is not a single catalyst powder. It is a co-designed material-process-product platform: non-CRM-stabilised, high-utilisation IrOx anodes; platinum-free or ultra-low-Pt cathodes; precision graded catalyst layers; low-waste continuous catalyst and CCM production; in-line metrology; manufacturing-scrap recirculation; and a traceable Safe and Sustainable by Design decision system. This framing matches the call's explicit emphasis on innovative advanced materials, production processes, product integration, industrial scale-up, business cases and secure value chains
