Edge-to-cloud instrumentation for de- and re-manufacturing lines (HORIZON-CL4-2027-01-MATERIALS-PRODUCTION-03)

Call: HORIZON-CL4-2027-01-MATERIALS-PRODUCTION-03, factory processes and automation for de- and re-manufacturing.

Project idea: edge-to-cloud instrumentation for de- and re-manufacturing lines. Modbus and PLC gateways capture process data offline-first, machine learning flags anomalies and yield loss, and the platform produces auditable resource and energy evidence per unit recovered.

Objectives: retrofit instrumentation onto existing lines without replacing controllers. Anomaly detection and predictive maintenance on live plant data. Measured energy and material recovery per unit. A replicable data model across sites.

Expected results: demonstrators at two industrial sites, measured energy and material savings against a baseline, and an open data model other lines can adopt.

Apex role: edge gateway and industrial protocol integration, telemetry pipelines, anomaly detection, and the evidence and reporting layer. Apex runs OmniVerify, an industrial Modbus and PLC platform in production. PIC 863416692, eligible as a full Horizon Europe partner.

Partners still needed: a coordinator, a manufacturer or process operator willing to host a demonstrator, and a research partner on industrial resource efficiency.
