About
Abbaye Saint Pierre offers a working, diversified organic farm in Mas-Grenier, Occitanie, France, as an experimental site for agricultural, agrifood and biotechnology research and innovation. We help research teams and companies co-design, test and demonstrate solutions under everyday production conditions. FACILITIES AND PRODUCTION Approximately 12 hectares managed, including a conservation orchard with 26 fruit species and more than 100 varieties, market gardening, aromatic and medicinal plants including saffron, field crops, grassland and an apiary. An operational 65 m² food-processing workshop includes an autoclave, steam oven, drying equipment and cold storage. Drip irrigation, spring and wells, fibre connectivity and distributed mains support agreed trials. PRACTICAL CONTRIBUTION Field validation of soil-health practices, microbial inputs, crop diversification, agroforestry, irrigation tools, sensors and robotics; observations and sampling under agreed protocols; feedback on usability, labour and adoption. Workshop-scale trials cover drying, preservation, storage, packaging and by-product use, with batch traceability and practical operating feedback. We support field visits, practitioner workshops, trainee hosting and dissemination. Trial suitability and product-specific requirements are agreed before work starts. EXPERIENCE AND PARTNERSHIPS Registered in 2015, the farm brings direct experience of diversified farming, traceability, seasonal post-harvest handling and small-batch food production. It coordinated the GRAPE-UP proposal submitted to GRAPPA cut-off 2 in October 2026 with Industry & Project Engineering (IPE, Slovakia), with the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra as scientific subcontractor. Scientific analysis and specialist engineering are provided through project partnerships. NATURE COLLABORATION We seek a partner role as an experimental farm within a wider territorial Living Lab, particularly for HORIZON-NATURE-2027-02-02 (ecosystem restoration, Area B), HORIZON-NATURE-2027-02-05 (biodiversity and pollinator monitoring), and relevant invertebrate-decline research. We offer diversified organic plots, orchard and apiary settings, protocol-led observations, practitioner co-creation and demonstration. The farm is an experimental site and does not itself represent a complete multi-site territorial Living Lab.
