C-ECO Institute is a nonprofit research institute incorporated in Missouri, United States, developing a pre-threshold legal and governance framework for systemic ecological risk. The Institute is building a distributed network of 22 planned Living Labs across the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia, with an initial alpha phase of four Labs covering the Amazon, Arctic carbon systems, global finance and governance. Its framework combines trajectory-based risk detection, early warning and legal activation, and it is currently applied in a consortium pilot on urban flood resilience in the Igarapé do Quarenta basin in Manaus, Brazil, led scientifically by the Federal University of Amazonas. The Institute works in English and Portuguese and brings legal, governance and finance expertise to consortia whose core work is ecosystem science and restoration.
The c-ECO Institute, a US nonprofit research institute, offers a developing framework for anticipatory systemic risk governance (TDR–TFP) as a basis for joint research within Horizon Europe NATURE consortia.
