About

The Biodiversity Research Group at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ), Türkiye, brings together interdisciplinary expertise spanning terrestrial, freshwater and marine biodiversity.

Our expertise includes animal systematics and herpetology; fish, bird and butterfly diversity; marine sciences and ecosystem-based fisheries; water quality and environmental pollution; population genetics, invasion ecology and evolutionary biology; plant biotechnology, tissue culture and conservation of endemic plant genetic resources; and sustainable agricultural systems and food biotechnology.

The group also contributes expertise in ecological connectivity, wildlife corridors, ecosystem-based planning, green infrastructure and urban biodiversity.

Members have experience in national and international research projects, including Horizon 2020, Erasmus+, UNDP, TÜBİTAK and COST networks.

We welcome Horizon Europe partnerships addressing biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, invasive species, environmental pressures and climate resilience. We aim to combine complementary expertise to develop practical solutions for protecting biodiversity and supporting sustainable ecosystem management.
