POLLENTIAL: DNA for Next-Generation Pollinator Monitoring
Senior Scientist at Universität Innsbruck
Innsbruck, Austria
About
POLLENTIAL aims to revolutionise pollinator monitoring across Europe by integrating innovative DNA-based approaches with conventional monitoring methods. The project will develop and validate scalable, cost-effective tools for detecting pollinator diversity, assessing population trends, and monitoring environmental pressures. By combining DNA barcoding, environmental DNA (eDNA), advanced modelling, and automated data analysis, POLLENTIAL will enhance the EU Pollinator Monitoring Scheme (EU-PoMS). Working closely with researchers, monitoring authorities, and conservation practitioners, the project will deliver practical, policy-relevant biodiversity indicators to support the EU Nature Restoration Regulation and strengthen evidence-based pollinator conservation.
