HORIZON-NATURE-2027-02-02: Biodiversity Monitoring for Restoration Living Labs
Associate Professor at University of Camerino
Camerino, Italy
About
We are looking to join a multidisciplinary consortium as a research partner under HORIZON-NATURE-2027-02-02, particularly Area A on risk-resilience through restoration.
UNICAM can contribute both biodiversity-monitoring expertise and, subject to formal agreement with the competent managing authority and stakeholders, a potential Italian experimental site located within a nationally protected mountain area. The site could be integrated as one of the 8-15 experimental sites within one of the three proposed living labs to co-design and test restoration and risk-resilience measures under climatic and hydrological pressures, with particular attention to sensitive habitats and rare or endemic species.
Our team can establish ecological baselines and monitor restoration trajectories using eDNA/metabarcoding, microbial and protist community profiling, multi-taxon bioindicators and functional measurements selected according to the ecosystem. These approaches can support harmonised KPIs and MRV protocols, compare intervention outcomes, and assess ecological recovery and resilience.
We are interested in a consortium able to combine this site with additional experimental sites and expertise in living-lab coordination, protected-area and water management, restoration practice, climate and hydrological modelling, public-authority engagement, and participatory governance.
