About

Our industrial partner operates large-scale uranium production processes involving sulfuric acid solutions, with an annual volume exceeding 100 million m³. These process streams contain neodymium (Nd) at concentrations of approximately 2.5 ppm/L — a critical raw material for Europe’s green and digital transitions.

Given the strategic importance of neodymium in permanent magnets and high-tech applications, there is significant interest in developing cost-effective and sustainable technologies for its recovery from complex industrial waste streams, particularly from uranium-associated acidic leachates.

We are looking for partners with expertise in:

  • Separation and extraction technologies for rare earth elements from multi-component acidic solutions.

  • Chemical engineering and hydrometallurgical process design (membrane systems, solvent extraction, ion exchange, etc.).

  • Circular economy principles in process industries.

  • Environmental impact minimization and scalability of green technologies.

  • Universities, RTOs, and SMEs with relevant Horizon Europe experience are welcome.
