OPENVERSE Observatory
This session presents the OpenVerse Observatory, a free, EU-funded online hub designed to connect professionals, organisations, and researchers across Europe's XR and Virtual Worlds ecosystem. Built as part of the OpenVerse project (Horizon Europe, grant 101135701), the platform helps stakeholders find each other, share expertise, and identify collaboration opportunities in the fast-growing virtual worlds space.
The demo will walk through the platform's core features: browsing the observatory's database of companies, EU-funded projects, industrial case studies, and national initiatives; exploring the Technology Radar, which maps 250+ XR experts and organisations against the OpenVerse Taxonomy; searching for XR experts by skill or domain; and using the built-in matchmaking and messaging tools to connect directly with relevant peers. The presentation will also briefly highlight complementary resources such as the standards registry, XR glossary, and the collaborative Virtual Worlds Roadmap wiki.
Attendees will leave with a practical understanding of how to create a profile, become discoverable, and actively use the Observatory to find partners, monitor market trends, and engage with the broader European virtual worlds community — all at no cost and with no commercial strings attached.
