About

EuroXR – European Association for eXtended Reality is an international non-profit association (AISBL) registered in Brussels, Belgium. Founded in 2010 as a continuation of activities initiated within the European FP6 Network of Excellence INTUITION, EuroXR has developed into a European network connecting universities, research organisations, XR laboratories, SMEs, technology providers, industrial organisations, professionals and end-users working with immersive technologies.

EuroXR covers the broad field of Extended Reality (XR), including Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality, immersive and collaborative environments, multimodal interaction, haptics, digital twins, simulation, human–computer interaction, spatial computing, AI-supported XR and emerging virtual-world technologies.

Role in European Projects

EuroXR is particularly suited to European consortia requiring a European-level XR ecosystem perspective in addition to technological or research expertise. The Association acts as a bridge between research, industry, education, technology providers, end-users and European initiatives.

EuroXR can contribute to:

  • Communication and dissemination – dissemination strategies, communication activities, workshops, webinars, project sessions and promotion of project results through established XR channels.

  • Stakeholder engagement and ecosystem building – stakeholder mapping, surveys, interviews, co-creation workshops, community development and engagement with researchers, SMEs, industrial organisations and end-users.

  • Validation and piloting – requirements gathering, expert consultation, user testing, demonstrations, evaluation frameworks and collection of stakeholder feedback.

  • Exploitation and uptake – identification of potential adopters, exploitation pathways, technology transfer, market-oriented engagement and long-term sustainability.

  • Training and capacity building – XR skills analysis, educational resources, workshops, tutorials, train-the-trainer activities and support for higher education and VET.

  • Standardisation and interoperability – contribution to discussions and initiatives related to XR standards, interoperability, accessibility and trustworthy immersive technologies.

European Network and Visibility

EuroXR provides access to established European dissemination and networking mechanisms, including the EuroXR International Conference, EuroXR Open Forum, Summer Schools, workshops, webinars and dedicated EU project activities.

These channels enable projects to present research results, technologies, demonstrators and applications to the wider European XR community and support collaboration between academia, industry, technology providers and end-users.

EuroXR is actively involved in European-funded collaborative projects, including Horizon Europe and Erasmus+ initiatives, with experience in XR skills and education, cultural heritage, multimodal immersive technologies, stakeholder engagement, dissemination, evaluation, validation and exploitation.

Areas of Interest

EuroXR is interested in collaboration on projects addressing:

XR and Virtual Worlds • AI-enabled immersive technologies • Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0 • digital twins • robotics and human–robot collaboration • healthcare • education and vocational training • cultural heritage • simulation and training • human–computer interaction • haptics and multimodal interfaces • accessibility • cybersecurity • interoperability • standardisation • trustworthy XR • spatial computing

Added Value for Consortia

EuroXR's main added value is its ability to connect project activities with the wider European XR ecosystem and support the transition from research results towards validation, visibility, adoption and long-term impact.

The Association can participate as an XR ecosystem and domain partner or take responsibility for work packages and tasks related to communication and dissemination, stakeholder engagement, training, validation, exploitation, ecosystem development and sustainability.
