About

We are a medium-sized municipality of 94,000 inhabitants, actively engaged in the implementation of our Climate City Contract within the framework of the Romanian M100 initiative and aligned with the objectives of the European Mission for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities. Building on extensive experience in managing and delivering European-funded projects, we are well-positioned to contribute as an active and reliable partner in international consortia.

As a newly designated UNESCO Creative City, we recognize culture, heritage, and creativity as key drivers of the green and just transition. Our local climate strategy is closely aligned with the principles of the New European Bauhaus, promoting climate-neutral urban development through the regeneration of historical buildings, adaptive reuse of heritage assets, and the transformation of underutilised spaces into inclusive, energy-efficient, and community-oriented hubs.

We are particularly interested in collaborating in projects that address circular economy solutions, repair and reuse ecosystems, sustainable construction practices, resource efficiency, and innovative approaches to urban regeneration. These priorities directly support the implementation of our Climate City Contract by reducing emissions from the built environment, enhancing urban resilience, and fostering sustainable local value chains.

Through the revitalisation of historic and cultural assets, we aim to reintegrate these spaces into the city’s social, cultural, and economic life cycle, while strengthening local identity, citizen participation, and social cohesion. We are especially interested in collaborative governance models that engage public authorities, citizens, cultural and creative sectors, academia, and businesses in co-creating climate-neutral solutions.

By participating in European partnerships, we seek to accelerate the delivery of our climate commitments, test and scale innovative solutions, and create sustainable economic opportunities that contribute to a resilient, inclusive, and climate-neutral future for our community.
