About

Wind Energy Ireland (WEI) is the representative body for Ireland’s wind energy industry, promoting wind energy as a central, affordable and sustainable pillar of Ireland’s low-carbon energy system. Our 200+ members span the full wind energy value chain and collectively employ around 6,000 people across Ireland. WEI also works closely with its sister organisations Energy Storage Ireland and Ireland Electrified, supporting the wider energy transition across power, flexibility and electrification.

WEI plays a key role in shaping national and EU-level policy through evidence-based advocacy, research and stakeholder engagement. We regularly commission and deliver research to inform government decision-making on energy, climate, skills and infrastructure, working closely with statutory bodies, State agencies and European partners.

WEI has a strong track record in EU-funded and nationally funded research and innovation projects, with particular expertise in stakeholder engagement, communications and dissemination, skills development, and policy-relevant research. We contribute across the full project lifecycle, including proposal development, work package leadership, stakeholder mapping, workshops and events, communications strategies and exploitation of results.

In addition, WEI supports industry-led skills development through Green Tech Skillnet (GTS) and the Skillnet Offshore Wind Academy (SOWA), delivering targeted training and capacity-building for the renewable and offshore wind sectors. WEI also organises major national conferences and events that facilitate knowledge-sharing and collaboration between industry, academia and policymakers.

Through our national reach and European networks, WEI acts as a bridge between research, industry and policy, supporting impactful, implementation-focused research outcomes.
