Wind Energy Ireland, national wind industry association, open to collaboration on Horizon Europe CL5 energy projects

Wind Energy Ireland (WEI) is the national representative body for Ireland’s wind energy industry, with over 200 member organisations spanning the full onshore and offshore wind value chain. WEI has a strong track record of participation in nationally funded and EU-funded research and innovation projects, contributing industry insight, stakeholder engagement, communications and dissemination to support impactful, policy-relevant outcomes.

A core strength WEI brings to research projects is the ability to leverage an active and established industry network. Through our committees and working groups, WEI engages hundreds of senior industry experts across areas including on- and offshore wind, grid and markets, planning and consenting, skills, asset management, health & safety, community engagement, and the energy transition. These structures provide a ready-made platform for consultation, validation of research outputs, co-creation activities and effective industry uptake.

WEI also adds value through its events and convening power. We organise major national conferences and thematic events that bring together industry, policymakers, regulators, academia and communities, and we regularly represent Ireland’s wind sector at international and European events. These platforms are used to disseminate project results and maximise visibility and impact beyond the project consortium.

In addition, WEI supports industry-led skills development through Green Tech Skillnet (GTS) and the Skillnet Offshore Wind Academy (SOWA), and works closely with sister organisations Energy Storage Ireland and Ireland Electrified. This wider ecosystem enables WEI to contribute expertise across renewable generation, flexibility, electrification and workforce development, strengthening the relevance of interdisciplinary research projects.

WEI is seeking partners for Horizon Europe Cluster 5 (Climate, Energy and Mobility) projects where we can contribute to proposal development and project delivery through stakeholder engagement, communications and dissemination, industry consultation, events and exploitation activities, helping to bridge research, industry and policy.
