Advanced polymer composite materials in energy systems - seeking project opportunities

Director at Hive Composites Ltd

About

HIVE specialises in all aspects of composite research, from design through to product certification, HIVE’s staff have led & been involved in cutting-edge R&D & commercial projects. HIVE offers a wide range of independent material & product end-to-end engineering services, from conceptual design & material selection to prototyping, testing & international standard certification.

HIVE owns the IP in the Trademarked METOL material. METOL is a low-viscosity in-situ polymerising thermoplastic which enables high structural performance and facilitates full recyclability at end-of-life, recovering valuable glass and carbon fibres. Additionally, ultrasonic/resistive bonding offers increased speed and joint quality, enhancing production efficiency and structural integrity. HIVE staff have established the baseline processing methodology of METOL™, validating catalyst systems, catalyst loading, & process temperatures to adapt METOL™’s polymerisation speed & viscosity to the traditionally thermoset-associated pultrusion process, demonstrating successful manufacture of fibre-reinforced METOL™ to TRL5. The material is also suitable for other composite processign techniques.
