Upcycling Paper Industry Treatment Sludge into Sustainable Thermal Insulation Materials for Industrial Energy Efficiency

R&D Specialist at Kipaş Kağıt Sanayi İşletmeleri A.Ş.

About

This project aims to valorise paper industry wastewater treatment sludge by converting it into sustainable thermal insulation materials, supporting circular economy principles and industrial energy efficiency.

The concept focuses on transforming an underutilised industrial by-product into insulation solutions suitable for reducing heat losses in industrial processes and facilities, particularly in energy-intensive sectors such as paper manufacturing. By reducing the need for disposal or incineration, the project contributes to lower environmental impact and improved resource efficiency.

The proposed cooperation targets pilot-scale validation and demonstration of the insulation concept, assessing its thermal performance, process integration potential, and contribution to energy efficiency in industrial environments. The project aligns with EU climate and energy objectives by combining waste valorisation, reduced heat losses, and sustainable industrial transformation.
