1. Predictive Maintenance for Grid-Forming Inverters (GFIs)

We can develop advanced predictive maintenance models that leverage real-time sensor data from GFIs. By applying machine learning algorithms to monitor parameters such as voltage, frequency, and thermal profiles, the system can detect early signs of degradation or anomalies. This approach minimizes downtime, reduces operational costs, and ensures continuous grid stability by preventing unexpected inverter failures.

2. AI-Based Optimization and Decision Support for RES Integration

Our expertise includes designing AI-driven optimization algorithms that determine the optimal operating modes of GFIs in large-scale renewable energy integration scenarios. These algorithms can dynamically adjust inverter settings to maintain frequency stability and voltage control while minimizing energy losses and operational costs. The solution supports both transmission and distribution levels, enabling efficient energy flow and enhancing overall grid flexibility.

We aim to support the following scopes of the call:

-            Develop new and improved knowledge and insights into the synthetic inertia, frequency control, very fast voltage support, and overall support to the system stability offered by grid-forming inverters (GFIs). Develop and/or update relevant models and simulation tools;

-            Leverage modern solutions, including digital twins and artificial intelligence. Use and/or develop, to the greatest extent possible, open-source software solutions and or software modules.
