Atlantic SENSE: a Geospatial Tool for Climate Resilience and Environmental Monitoring Tool
EO Expert - CTO Space at CoLAB +ATLANTIC

About
In an era of abundant environmental and climate data — from satellites, in-situ sensors, and personal devices — transforming scientific information into actionable insights for society remains a challenge. Despite significant advances in hazard mapping and prediction, translating complex data into user-relevant formats is often difficult, leading to a gap between climate knowledge and decision-making. This gap is particularly critical in coastal regions, where most of the world’s population faces cumulative exposure to sea level rise, heatwaves, floods, and droughts. Atlantic SENSE addresses this challenge by integrating cutting-edge data acquisition, machine learning, and metocean prediction techniques. It provides an interactive environment where users can visualise, simulate, and assess climate and environmental risks in coastal and urban areas. Through intuitive dashboards, Atlantic SENSE delivers added-value geospatial products that support science-informed decisions. We propose expanding Atlantic SENSE’s functionalities as a living tool for non-expert users to derive geospatial insights, by evolving from a visualisation tool towards a local Digital Twin node.
