Next-Gen Durable Solar Thermal Receiver Technology
UC3M Knowledge Transfer Office at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid

About
This technology introduces a novel external solar thermal receiver using oval or elliptical absorber tubes instead of conventional circular ones. This geometry distributes concentrated solar radiation more evenly, reduces heat losses, minimizes deformation at high temperatures and significantly extends the receiver’s service life.
The system includes axial-guided supports to avoid mechanical stresses, curved tube ends for easier assembly, and a modular architecture with multiple heat transfer fluid circuits. These features allow higher energy efficiency, lower maintenance needs and improved durability under extreme operating conditions.
Collaboration sought:
Industrial partners, solar receiver manufacturers, and metallurgical or energy companies are sought for investment, licensing, or R&D cooperation to co-develop and commercialise the technology.
