Pioneering food regulatory sandboxes in Europe

In April 1925, the AgriFoodtech Sandbox was launched, an initiative to accelerate innovation in the agri-food sector, managed by EATEX Food Innovation Hub by CNTA. This pioneering initiative was created to accelerate innovation in the agri-food sector. The AgriFoodTech Sandbox program will offer companies a safe environment to test innovative technologies, products, services, or approaches that operate at the regulatory frontier, generating learning at the regulatory level and regarding the added value of innovations compared to current uses and practices. Furthermore, Spain is positioning itself as a leader in Europe in adopting this model, already tested in other strategic sectors, for the agri-food industry.

The panel will outline the objectives, operations, and expected results of the sandbox and will be useful for biotech companies to learn how they can leverage it to accelerate the development of their projects.
