Highly motivated R&D leader with over 10 years of experience in natural product biosynthesis, synthetic biology and enzyme discovery. Proven track record in project delivery, leading cross-functional teams and fostering a culture of innovation.
Caravel Bio is a synthetic biology start-up based in Portland, Oregon, USA. The company has developed a novel approach to protein engineering using cell-free protein synthesis, bacterial spores, microfluidics, genetic code expansion and machine learning to drive biological innovation across industries with established partners in carbon capture, DNA synthesis and critical mineral recovery.
I am currently the leading the research for Caravel Bio, a startup based out of Portland, Oregon, USA. At Caravel, we've developed a novel high-throughput platform that combines spore display with protein engineering to enable unique solutions in carbon capture, critical mineral recovery and other industrial and Pharma applications. Prior, I worked at Ginkgo Bioworks where I lead projects across different industrial domains managing. My work involved managing and coordinating activities across different teams to integrate ML-guided protein engineering, omics analyses, HTP library screening, and process engineers to advance discovery campaigns.
My academic training was completed at ETH Zurich, where I was a PhD student and Post-doc in the lab of Joern Piel where I developed microbial hosts for engineering peptides and other natural products.
Looking for companies interested in enzyme discovery/production for biocatalysis, especially if there is need for immobilisation, functionality in tougher conditions(extreme temps+pHs) and endotoxin-free processes
