CarboCatch – Satellite-based MRV for Agroforestry Carbon

CEO at Space4Good

About

CarboCatch, developed by Space4Good in collaboration with the Louis Bolk Institute, is a digital MRV (Measurement, Reporting and Verification) platform designed for agroforestry carbon projects.

The platform combines satellite Earth Observation data with machine learning models trained on field-collected biomass data to estimate above-ground carbon stocks in agroforestry parcels. It enables transparent, scalable and cost-effective carbon monitoring without the need for extensive in-situ measurements.

Key features:

- Parcel-level carbon stock estimation using multi-temporal satellite imagery

- Scenario modelling for agroforestry planting strategies

- Web-based dashboard for project managers, farmers and verifiers

- Alignment with relevant carbon standards

- Support for voluntary carbon market (VCM) crediting workflows

CarboCatch addresses a critical gap in the agrifood sector: the lack of affordable, reliable digital tools to verify nature-based carbon sequestration at scale. By reducing MRV costs and increasing transparency, it accelerates the uptake of carbon farming practices across Europe.

We are looking for partners in the agri-tech ecosystem including farm management software providers, carbon registries, agricultural cooperatives and research organisations interested in integrating or piloting satellite-based carbon MRV.
