About
Each individual over a lifetime, through acquired knowledge and his own experience, creates the so-called cognitive reserve, which in practice is reflected, among other things, by the way, skills and possibilities of verbal communication of each of us with the environment. With brain disease, some of these capabilities are lost. The type of disease, the extent, the location of the brain damage are all factors that affect the depletion of cognitive reserve. Thus, each of us contracting even the same type of disease will experience varying degrees of deficits in the lost function.
Taking advantage of the phenomenon of so-called brain plasticity, we know that we are able to achieve the best therapeutic results using an individualized approach based on personalized therapy. This requires therapists to implement immediate, intensified rehabilitation activities, already in the so-called early phase of stroke, in the Stroke Ward.
As a therapeutic team, we are open tfor cooperation to develop common data areas and services to support the therapy and recovery of communication skills for adult patients.
Currently, there is a high legitimacy and social need for methods to improve this type of neurorehabilitation. Deficits in verbal communication problems, as a rule, become a fundamental barrier to communication with other people, and threaten social withdrawal and loss of opportunities for professional reinclusion. It becomes a significant contributor to social exclusion and the sanctioning of disability.
