About me

Dr. Joan Estrany is a Full Professor of Physical Geography, Head of the Geography Department at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), and Director of the Balearic Islands Natural Risks and Emergencies Observatory (RiscBal). His research focuses on river hydrology, erosion measurement in Mediterranean environments, and knowledge transfer in natural risk management in the Balearic Islands. Since 2007, he has taught Physical Geography at UIB. RiscBal manages a technological infrastructure — RiscBal-Control — for monitoring floods, fires, landslides, and climate risks, enabling the real-time early warning system RiscBal-Warnings.
