SuHope Research Lab – Sabancı Business School, Sabancı University - Social Science and Humanities partnership
About
SuHope (Sustainable Health and Humanitarian Operations Research Lab) at Sabancı Business School, Sabancı University, is focused on shaping disaster-resilient societies. We combine empirical data, behavioral analysis, digital technologies, and stakeholder collaboration to improve humanitarian outcomes and disaster preparedness and response, especially for earthquake-prone regions like Turkey.
To enhance social, institutional, and infrastructural resilience before, during, and after disasters, by integrating academic insight with real-world impact and policy relevance.
We develop actionable insights and practical tools through multidisciplinary methods. Our key domains include:
-
Humanitarian Supply Chains:
Optimizing logistics, demand prediction, and coordination across aid networks during disaster response. -
Disaster-time Donation & Volunteer Behavior:
Studying public response patterns and mobilization factors in times of crisis. -
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for Disaster Resilience:
Exploring how companies can proactively support communities and recovery through strategic CSR initiatives. -
Social Support Systems & Public Awareness:
Investigating how social media, peer support, and policy tools build psychological and social resilience. -
Earthquake Resilience in Turkey – Case Focus:
Drawing from fieldwork and data from the February 6, 2023 Kahramanmaraş Earthquake and preparing for potential large-scale earthquakes in the Marmara region, especially Istanbul.
