About
Natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, and wildfires are becoming increasingly frequent and severe due to climate change, posing significant challenges for timely and accurate disaster response and recovery. Many of these disasters occur under adverse weather conditions where traditional optical satellite imagery is obscured by clouds, limiting its effectiveness. The motivation for project arises from the urgent need to address these challenges by providing a reliable, scalable, sustainable and holistic solution for pre-post-disaster assessment, taking advantage of the advanced capabilities of artificial intelligence, remote sensing and geographic information systems.
The project aims to develop an advanced, multi-spatial scale disaster resilience and monitoring system tailored for emergency management under severe weather conditions. By integrating Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and optical satellite data with cutting-edge AI techniques, the project ensures reliable disaster assessment capabilities even when utilization of optical data is limited.
