Teach cybersecurity for vulnerable people
About
It is a social impact initiative that combines environmental sustainability, digital inclusion, and cybersecurity education to create meaningful change in underserved communities, particularly in countries such as Cabo Verde and Guiné-Bissau.
Our mission is to receive donated electronic devices (computers, phones, tablets, hard drives, etc.), safely destroy sensitive data, refurbish what can be reused, and utilize the equipment as educational tools for teaching cybersecurity and digital literacy in vulnerable communities.
By responsibly handling electronic waste and transforming it into a force for empowerment, this project not only protects digital identities and the environment but also builds the next generation of cybersecurity professionals in places where access to technology and training is scarce.
Our Core Activities:
-
Donation Collection
We receive electronic donations from companies, individuals, and institutions. Items include computers, phones, hard drives, and other devices. -
Data Destruction & Refurbishment
Every device goes through a strict data destruction protocol using certified tools and techniques, ensuring privacy and compliance with data protection laws (e.g., GDPR). Devices that pass quality checks are refurbished for reuse. -
Cybersecurity Education
Refurbished devices are used in training programs delivered to young people and educators in poor communities. The training covers topics like:-
Digital hygiene and safety
-
Safe internet usage
-
Introduction to cybersecurity tools
-
Ethical hacking and digital rights
-
Career paths in tech and cybersecurity
-
-
Capacity Building
We partner with local schools, NGOs, and community centers to establish cyber labs and empower local facilitators to continue the mission long-term.
Impact Goals:
-
Reduce e-waste through responsible reuse.
-
Improve digital literacy and safety in under-resourced areas.
-
Create opportunities for employment and innovation in cybersecurity.
-
Bridge the digital divide between global North and South.
Target Beneficiaries:
-
Youth and educators in Cabo Verde, Guiné-Bissau, and similar communities.
-
Donor companies seeking a responsible e-waste and CSR solution.
-
Broader society through enhanced cybersecurity awareness and environmental responsibility.
