About

In today’s digital era, cybersecurity has become a fundamental pillar for the protection and optimal operation of businesses, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and self-employed professionals. These groups typically have limited resources and face a higher risk from the growing wave of cyber threats. As digitalization deepens, the vulnerability to cyberattacks and the potential economic and legal consequences of poor digital security management become more intense.

In response to these emerging challenges, the European Union has implemented stricter regulations to ensure a minimum standard of cybersecurity across all critical sectors, notably through the NIS2 Directive. This regulation sets out strict legal obligations for companies regarding risk management and security incident reporting. In Spain, these directives have been adopted through the National Security Framework (ENS), which requires all SMEs to comply with these standards. This new legislation anticipates a significant demand for cybersecurity audits, which will likely exceed the capacity of traditional consultancies, putting both business compliance and the ability of consultancies to manage such a workload at risk.

The PACMANIA project emerges as a strategic solution to this issue. Its purpose is to create an automated system that leverages artificial intelligence to transform cybersecurity management, specifically designed to support SMEs and self-employed professionals. The proposed system is based on advanced AI technologies, such as Generative Language Models, to process and analyze large volumes of data related to digital security. This intelligent tool consists of two essential components: the first builds a vast, accessible, and relevant knowledge base for cybersecurity, and the second provides an intuitive user interface that enables users to interact directly with the platform to resolve queries and make informed decisions based on accurate and up-to-date data.

The expected impact of the PACMANIA project is groundbreaking, as it promises not only to facilitate compliance with the new security regulations but also to significantly improve the ability of SMEs and freelancers to anticipate and respond to cyber threats. By automating the generation of regulatory reports and optimizing internal audits, the system enables more frequent and detailed security analyses, identifying vulnerabilities and proactively recommending corrective actions. Additionally, the platform will serve as both a cybersecurity assistant and a learning hub, offering ongoing support, practical advice, and updated training on best practices and the latest trends in digital security.

This approach not only reduces the workload for companies and consultants but also improves the overall security posture of organizations, enabling them to stay ahead in an ever-evolving digital environment. In short, the PACMANIA project has the potential to fundamentally change the way SMEs and self-employed professionals manage their cybersecurity, ensuring their resilience and operational continuity in the digital future.
