B recover™: the first regenerative therapy for ischemic stroke survivors

B recover™ is a procedural kit made of two vials that, when combined, give a first-in-class injectable treatment that helps the brain repair itself after an ischemic stroke. It's applied directly to the damaged area, the "stroke cavity," where it forms a gel that acts like a scaffold, replacing the lost extracellular matrix, promoting cell proliferation and overall supporting the brain's own tissue as it regrows. It's designed to work for newborns, children, and adults.

Here's what makes it different. The only treatment available today is preventive, indicated to be given within a few hours after the stroke onset (reaching only 15% of patients), in the acute phase and before the damage is done. B recover™ steps in after the damage has already happened and the ischemic lesion is fully formed. The final point of the current clinical practice is the starting point of B recover, able to turn the damaged area of our brain into a therapeutic window and help the brain to repair itself. That opens the door to an estimated 85% of stroke survivors who currently have no treatment option whatsoever.

B recover™ has already shown outstanding results in preclinical studies, and Ombú is now moving forward to further develop it to reach clinical studies and scaling up through licensing agreements.
