RECRAFT EUROPE

RECRAFT EUROPE is a project that brings together tradition, craftsmanship, sustainability, and social inclusion into an innovative model of the circular economy. The project focuses on the reuse of local bio-based and textile waste, which would otherwise become an environmental burden, transforming it into products with high added value.

What we will do

We will establish pilot micro-hubs in various European regions, where hands-on workshops, training sessions, community-based artisanal production, and the development of innovative products will take place. All activities will be based on the inclusion of vulnerable groups, intergenerational knowledge transfer, and respect for local identity and cultural heritage.

Materials used

We will work with the following local materials and waste streams: fruit peels, oat residues, wool, herbs, textile scraps, grape pomace, herbal by-products, spent coffee grounds, stale bread, fish scales, microalgae, straw, and discarded tree needles. These materials will be transformed using fermentation, drying, natural dyeing, distillation, felting, and manual processing techniques.

New products

The products developed will include: fermented beverages, natural cosmetics, soaps, herbal teas, vinegar-based products, story-driven packaging, textiles, wraps, and other cultural and practical items with high added value, strong local anchoring, and transparent product storytelling.

Required partners

To successfully implement the RECRAFT EUROPE project, we are seeking a diverse consortium of partners:

• Public authorities and policymakers (municipalities, ministries, development agencies) for policy analysis and recommendations.

• Technology partners (ICT companies, startups, researchers) for the development of digital traceability tools.

• Business support and development agencies for transferring innovations and supporting SME development.

• Municipalities and public institutions (schools, social centers) for the implementation of local pilot activities.

• Universities and research institutes for method development, evaluation, and scientific grounding.

• Social enterprises and NGOs for working directly with vulnerable groups and running community-based pilot actions.
