Pewman Innovation is a Chilean biotechnology company built around a core scientific platform: the bioprospecting and application of extremophile microorganisms native to the most extreme environments on Earth, the Atacama Desert and Antarctica. These organisms have evolved unique metabolic and molecular adaptations to survive extreme cold, drought, UV radiation, and salinity, adaptations that translate into novel bioactive compounds with practical applications across different industries.
Our technology platform combines microbial bioprospecting, genomics, and bioprocess development to identify and characterize compounds such as ice-nucleation inhibitors, nanobiopolymers, and antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory secondary metabolites, and to turn them into functional products. To date, this platform has been applied to develop agricultural biotechnology solutions, including a frost-protection product and a biostimulant, both already commercialized and used by farmers across Chile.
Building on this same core technology, Pewman is now expanding into new application areas, including animal and human health, where we are developing bioactive compounds from Antarctic bacteria to address specific health challenges. The company is based in Santiago, Chile, and is actively seeking international partners for joint R&D and commercialization projects.
