My organisation

Belgrade Metropolitan University (BMU) is a private medium size university in Serbia which offers a variety of study programs at bachelor, master and PhD level. Also, BMU offers lifelong learning programs for employees and industry. BMU offers BSc academic programs in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Game Development, Operations Management, Business, Economy and Marketing, Graphic Design, Design of Interactive Media And Fashion Design and Foreign Language & Culture Studies . MSc programs are in information security, software engineering, information systems, digital transformation, marketing management, and design of new media. PhD programs are in the areas of software engineering, management and development, and design of new media. BMU operates in two campuses in Belgrade and Niš. BMU is developing, advancing and implementing new teaching and learning methodologies, for both “face-to-face” and “online” studies. Every year BMU enrolls 350-400 new students in the areas of computing, business management and digital arts. Almost all study programs are offered in three forms: “face-to-face”, “blended” and “online” (using e-learning). Most BMU courses are offered in all three teaching forms. As a pioneer with over 20 years experience in online and distant learning in Serbia, each year BMU offers over 200 online courses. In its long tradition of including innovation in teaching and learning methods, BMU has always believed that project- and problem-based learning and mandatory internship programs are key to building successful graduates. BMU has been devoted to improving its teaching and scientific methods throughout the years, through national and international projects. Every year BMU organizes two scientific conferences, in the areas of eLearning and information security. These conferences are organized with several national and international partners. Within the scope of the ILEDA project (Improving online and blended learning with educational data analytics) BMU has developed learning analytics methodologies for its online and blended courses. Besides ILEDA, BMU has previously participated in both Erasmus+ and nationally funded research projects that have built on the expertise in the area of designing, developing and implementing innovative teaching/learning methods and technological platforms used to enhance student learning. BMU has participated in the project “An adaptive system of computer assisted learning (part of III44006)” funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, which enabled the application of the most advanced technologies in the field of e-learning. Within this project BMU team developed a system based on learning objects, which allowed for creation of more than 200 courses. This project set the foundation for not only systems that can support learning objects, but allowed integration with external systems, which led to the investigation of different pedagogical methods for online learning. This project was the foundation for a future personalized e-Learning system that is the goal of BMU to achieve in the near future.
