Business Mission to Japan – March 2026

As part of the EU–Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation’s Business Mission to Japan and the EU Business Hub programme, approximately 60 European startups and SMEs will travel to Japan in March to engage in targeted business matchmaking activities.Several other European delegations will be in Japan as well creating an opportunity for more EU-Japan business opportunities.

This accompanying platform aims to create tangible business opportunities and strategic collaborations between European and Japanese companies in the green transition sector, particularly in the fields of renewable energy, circular economy, decarbonisation technologies, and other sustainable solutions.

The following business matchmaking events and on-site meeting sessions will take place:

The online platform allows participants to browse profiles of all registered European and Japanese companies and organisations, register for matchmaking events, and arrange individual B2B meetings in advance.

What You Can Do on This Platform

This platform is designed to support European startups and SMEs in building business partnerships with Japanese companies.

By creating and publishing a company profile — including your offers / requests and technologies / business needs — you can actively connect with potential Japanese partners and manage all matchmaking activities directly on the platform.

From event registration to individual communication and meeting scheduling, the entire process can be handled online.

1. Browse Company Profiles

You can explore detailed profiles of:

  • Japanese companies and institutions seeking European partners
  • Registered European companies participating in the missions or not
  • Companies attending the on-site event in March

Profiles include industry focus, technology areas, and collaboration interests to help you identify relevant business opportunities.

2. Register for Matchmaking Sessions

You can apply and participate in the following sessions:

  • 24-26 February: Online Meeting Sessions
  • 16 March (Monday): On-site Matchmaking Event (Tokyo)

  • 17–19 March (Tuesday–Thursday): On-site B2B Meetings

    (EU Green Transition Pavilion, Tokyo Big Sight)

  • 3. Communicate and Schedule Meetings in Advance

    The platform allows you to:

    • Send direct messages to companies of interest via the chat function
    • Submit meeting requests and coordinate preferred dates and times
    • Meetings can be scheduled in advance

    By actively using the platform, you can efficiently prepare for meetings, identify high-potential partners, and maximize the impact of your participation in missions.

    Eligibility

    Eligibility

    Access to this platform is reserved for representatives of enterprises, research and educational institutions and other related organisations, active in the above target fields. Individuals are not eligible for participation.
    Related to public funding for this platform, only organisations headquartered in Japan, the European Union, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Türkiye, Moldova and Ukraine can participate. (as of June 2025)

    EU–Japan Green Transition 2025–2026 – Past Activities

    Hydrogen Technology World Expo

    Japanese companies, including a delegation from Hyogo Prefecture, visited and exhibited at the Hydrogen Technology World Expo held in Hamburg, Germany. On-site business matchmaking sessions were conducted during the event.
