About

Founded on June 7, 1996, Istanbul Bilgi University (BILGI) offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in social sciences, economics, business, communications, arts, law, engineering, and architecture. The university's R&D structure is shaped by an interdisciplinary approach, rooted in the principle that education and research form an inseparable whole. This research ecosystem is strategically organized around Institutes, Application and Research Centers, Research Groups, and BILGI Areas of Excellence.

The university hosts well-equipped research laboratories that serve the specific disciplines of various faculties, including Engineering and Natural Sciences, Architecture, Health Sciences, and Communication. Beyond theoretical studies, these facilities provide the necessary infrastructure for applied research and prototype development. BILGI’s academic members are globally recognized in their respective fields, actively conducting research projects supported by various national and international funding institutions.

BILGI has played an active role in the FP7, Horizon 2020, and Horizon Europe programs. To date, the university has successfully completed 22 projects—including a prestigious ERC Advanced Grant—and currently manages 8 ongoing projects funded by the European Commission.
