On-site Microplastic Sampling & Analytical Support Solutions

Managing Director at SATOORNIK UG

Dresden, Germany

About

Microplastic monitoring in freshwater environments is essential to understanding contamination sources and supporting effective mitigation strategies. This project deploys the ultra‑compact FC1 field microplastic sampler, a lightweight, single‑sample kit optimized for rapid, on‑site collection of microplastic particles from waters such as drinking water, rivers, and wastewater effluents without the need for large sample transport. By enabling consistent, reproducible sampling directly in the field, the FC1 improves data quality, reduces logistical barriers, and supports harmonized monitoring protocols across sites. Integration with advanced analytical workflows ensures efficient sample preparation and interpretation, enhancing project capacity to assess microplastic distribution, source contributions, and trends over time. Project outcomes include standardized field monitoring practices, improved baseline datasets for inland water systems, and strengthened evidence to guide pollution reduction strategies, contributing to the EU’s goals for healthy aquatic ecosystems and sustainable water management under the Restore our Ocean and Waters mission.

·       Disaster Preparedness & Response: FC1 can be deployed immediately after flood events.

·        Climate Risk Assessment: FC1 as a tool for quantifying "emerging risks" (microplastics/PFAS) mobilized by climate disasters.

·        Standardization & Harmonization: FC1 provides "professional-grade, centralized datasets" that can be used across different EU regions.

·        Knowledge Transfer: training the local authorities or municipal

·        Resilient Infrastructure Monitoring
