BC-MATRACE: Blockchain-Enabled Digital Product Passports for Circular Advanced Materials

The BC-MATRACE proposal is designed to fulfill the specific objectives of the HORIZON-CL4-2027-01-MAT-PROD-06 call: Circular innovative advanced materials: facilitating the transition from design to markets. The project focuses on bridging the gap between innovative material design and commercial viability through a high-trust digital ecosystem.

In alignment with the topic’s focus on circularity and market transition, the proposal concept centers on:

• Integrated Digital Product Passports (DPP): Developing a decentralized ledger to store critical material data (chemical composition, recycled content, and durability), ensuring that circularity information remains accessible and immutable throughout the supply chain.

• Physical-to-Digital Integrity: Implementing NEWCO’s Smart Shielding technology to provide secure physical seals for material batches, preventing fraud and ensuring that the physical material matches its digital twin documentation.

• Standardization and Market Readiness: Providing the ICT framework necessary for materials to comply with EU regulatory requirements for circularity, thereby reducing market barriers for SMEs and large-scale industrial players.

• Cyber-Resilient Supply Chains: Utilizing NEWCO’s expertise in Trustworthy AI and Cyber-security (derived from projects like AIAGENT4CYBER) to protect proprietary industrial data while allowing for transparent sharing of sustainability metrics.

NEWCO S.A. seeks to contribute these technical capabilities to a consortium of material scientists and manufacturers to ensure that European advanced materials are not only circular by design but also commercially scalable through digital transparency.
