About
CHIMAR is pioneer in the development of bio-based adhesive systems using renewable feedstocks and wastes to replace fossil raw materials and chemicals. Non-exhaustive examples: lignin/lignin products, natural phenols, liquefied biomass, tannins, cellulose (incl. micro-/nano-fibrillated/bacterial/crystalline), starch, saccharides, proteins, plant oils, biopolymers, bio-acids, bio-alcohols, bio-aldehydes.
CHIMAR is also expert in developing bio-composite panels using non-wood biomass materials, agricultural and industrial residues as well as recycled materials. Non-exhaustive examples: cereal straw/husks/fibres, tree/crop pruning products, fibres/chips from hemp/kenaf, biochar, seaweed, fibres/chips from recycled wood products, fibres from recycled textiles.
CHIMAR applies novel polymers and chemicals in the production of composite wood products and their coatings. Non-exhaustive examples: biopolymers, bio-based polyesters/epoxies/polyurethanes, fire retardants, cross-linkers, additives imparting antimicrobial properties.
