Battery and WEEE supply chain and EPR schemes

Recyclia has extensive expertise in the management of end-of-life (EoL) value chains for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and batteries through the operation of leading Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes in Spain, including Ecopilas, Ecofimatica and Ecoasimelec. As the managing entity of these Producer Responsibility Organisations (PROs), Recyclia coordinates one of the country’s largest collection and compliance networks for these waste streams, ensuring the efficient collection, transport, treatment and reporting of EoL products in accordance with European and national legislation.

Positioned at the core of EoL systems, Recyclia maintains strong operational links with all key stakeholders across the supply chain, including producers, distributors, collection points, logistics operators, treatment facilities, recyclers, public authorities and compliance actors. This unique ecosystem perspective enables Recyclia to generate valuable insights on waste generation, collection dynamics, material flows, stakeholder engagement and market barriers affecting circularity.

Building on this role, Recyclia actively participates in research and innovation initiatives related to circular economy, critical raw materials recovery, eco-design, digitalisation and advanced recycling systems, with a particular focus on batteries and electronic waste. Its expertise covers market analysis, collection system optimisation, reverse logistics, stakeholder engagement, communication and dissemination, regulatory monitoring and the development of scalable circular business models to improve resource efficiency and material recovery across Europe.
