EU agri-food business mission to Singapore 2026
EU agri-food business mission to Singapore 2026
Europe is widely recognised for its exceptional and high quality food and beverage products. From golden Mediterranean olive oils to high-quality meat and dairy products and from authentic confectionery produced using traditional recipes handed down through generations, to world-class wines, beers, and spirits – every product tells a story. Backed by strict health and safety standards European produce combines authenticity, flavour, and excellence, reflecting a rich and diverse culinary heritage.
On 19 October 2018, the EU and Singapore signed three landmark agreements, taking their political, trade, and investment relations to a new level: the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (FTA), the EU-Singapore Investment Protection Agreement and the EU Singapore Partnership and Cooperation Agreement.
Following the consent to the three Agreements by the European Parliament in February 2019, the EU-Singapore FTA came into force on 21 November 2019, while the two other agreements will enter into force once ratified by all EU Member States (MS) according to their own national procedures.
Upon its entry into force, the EU-Singapore FTA removed all remaining tariffs for EU exports, while the EU removed nearly all customs duties for imports of goods originating in Singapore five years after entry into force of the Agreement, on 21 November 2024. The EU-Singapore FTA includes important provisions on the elimination of non-tariff barriers, the protection of intellectual property rights, including geographical indications, customs cooperation and trade facilitation, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, trade and sustainable development, trade in services, and government procurement, among others.
In May 2025, the EU and Singapore assigned a Digital Trade Agreement to further facilitate digitally enabled trade in goods and services and ensure cross-border data flows free of unjustified barriers.
Food & Hospitality Asia (FHA) is the most important international food related event for businesses in Singapore and the wider region. A participation in FHA allows to further promote key aspects of EU products as it serves as a platform/hub to communicate on the high standards of quality, safety, authenticity and sustainability of European products in Southeast Asia and the wider region.
Raising the visibility and profile of EU agri-food products by highlighting their key merits of quality, authenticity, sustainability and safety will be one of the objectives of an EU agri-food business delegation to Singapore, which will take place in Singapore on 20-23 April 2026, in conjunction with the EU pavilion at FHA Singapore Fair (21-24 April 2026). The EU agri-food business delegation to Singapore is organised by the European Commission – DG for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI).
