EU agri-food business mission to Brazil 2025

EU agri-food business mission to Brazil 2025

Europe is renowned for the uniqueness and quality of the food and drink products that it produces. From golden Mediterranean olive oils to high-quality meat, dairy products, and fruits and vegetables, or from authentic confectionery produced using traditional recipes, European produce reflects a rich culinary heritage.

Complemented by world-class wines, beers and spirits, the quality of European produce is underpinned by strict health and safety standards, ensuring excellence at every stage.

Brazil is the largest economy in Latin America, and by far the largest economy of the four Mercosur countries (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay) with 220 million consumers out of the 270 million from the Mercosur countries. Yet so far, Brazil’s potential as major destination for EU agri-food exports remains largely untapped. EU agri-food exports to the region represent currently only about 6% in value of all EU exports.

The European Union has been involved in promoting EU agricultural food and beverage products in Brazil over the past years. It is co-financing six ongoing promotion campaigns, led by organisations from different EU countries, that are targeting this market. In 2025, the European Commission participated in ANUGA Select fair in São Paulo from 8-10 April and has published a respective Market Entry Handbook.

In this context, the agri-food business mission will be an additional element in a series of promotion and communication activities targeting the Brazilian market and consumers.

Raising the visibility and profile of EU agri-food products by highlighting their key merits of quality, authenticity, sustainability and safety will also be one of the objectives of a business mission to Brazil, which will take place in São Paulo on 20-24 October 2025. The EU agri-food business mission to Brazil is organised by the European Commission – Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI).
