About
The Biogipuzkoa Health Research Institute, is the leading center for health research and innovation in the historical territory of Gipuzkoa, Basque Country, Spain. Our mission is to generate knowledge and results in translational research that have an impact and add value to patient care and to society as a whole.
For more than 15 years, we have promoted basic, epidemiological, clinical, and translational research, as well as innovation, in areas such as neuroscience, oncology, and aging, among others.
More than 400 researchers across 32 research groups, together with our 19 Support Units and Platforms, form the foundation of our activity. We are part of the main national and international cooperative health research networks and platforms.
We address hypotheses generated in hospital and primary care settings. We gather and promote research activity from the Integrated Health Organizations (OSI) of Osakidetza in territory of Gipuzkoa as well as the Mental Health Network and the Gipuzkoa Public Health Subdirectorate. Our core is OSI Donostialdea, where we stand out for our participation in the Advanced Therapies Unit and the CSURs for rare neuromuscular diseases and hereditary retinal dystrophies.
