Instrumented Everyday Objects and Adaptive Furniture
Founder, Research Associate at Institute of Housing Research

About
We are seeking research and development partners for unobtrusive sensing embedded in everyday objects, furniture and assistive products. Current work combines thin or surface-printed capacitive structures with IMUs and selectively added force, strain, load or other sensors to investigate grip, manipulation, object use and change over time. Applications range from ergonomics and rehabilitation to adaptive furniture and naturalistic long-term monitoring.
In the long run, we have a representation of the sensor-augmented objects as digital twins in mind: they may visualize contact, movement, load, use trajectories and environmental context. The aim is a research interface for comparing physical interaction, longitudinal change, ergonomic adaptation and alternative designs.
All stakeholders and perspectives are welcome: universities, producing industry, people with elevated health needs or knowledge thereof, healthcare professionals.
