About

The Institute of Public Policies (Fundacja Instytut Polityk Publicznych, IPP) is a non-governmental organisation based in Kraków, Poland. We connect research, public policy and civic participation to help public institutions and civil society organisations respond to social challenges and make better-informed decisions.

Our main areas of work include democratic governance, citizen participation, deliberative democracy, civic education and civil society development. We combine policy analysis and social research with practical experience in designing and facilitating public consultations, citizens’ assemblies, participatory workshops and dialogue between stakeholders. We also provide training, advisory support and project evaluation.

IPP runs Democracy Hub, an initiative that brings together knowledge, practical tools, case studies and expert support for participatory and deliberative policymaking. Through the Hub, we support local governments and practitioners in choosing and applying methods suited to their communities and policy challenges.

For international research and innovation consortia, we can contribute:
• Analysis of public policies, institutional practices and stakeholder needs.
• Qualitative and quantitative social research.
• Stakeholder mapping, recruitment and engagement in Poland.
• Co-design and facilitation of participatory processes and pilot activities.
• Evaluation of the social impacts, accessibility and practical usability of proposed solutions.
• Translation of research findings into policy recommendations, training materials and resources for practitioners.
• Dissemination and engagement with local governments, civil society organisations and expert communities.

We are interested in interdisciplinary applied research on democratic resilience, public trust, digital participation, responsible uses of artificial intelligence, and the social dimensions of climate and energy transitions. We are particularly interested in projects that involve citizens and practitioners throughout the research process and test solutions in real-world settings.

We welcome cooperation with universities, research institutes, local authorities, civil society organisations and businesses from Poland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. We seek partnerships in which social research, public engagement and policy expertise contribute to practical, measurable benefits for communities.
