Medical University of Gdańsk

The Medical University of Gdańsk (MUG) is one of the leading medical universities in Poland and the oldest medical university in the Pomeranian region, established in 1945. Since 2019, MUG has held the status of a Research University, reflecting its strong commitment to scientific excellence, interdisciplinary research and international cooperation.

MUG conducts research across medicine, public health, pharmacy, biotechnology and health sciences, with many projects implemented in collaboration with international research institutions. The University combines modern research infrastructure with extensive clinical facilities, including the University Clinical Centre, the Invasive and Non-Invasive Medicine Centres, the Medical Simulation Centre and the Clinical Research Support Centre.

The University actively develops partnerships with the socio-economic sector, supporting knowledge and technology transfer and translational research, particularly in medicine, biotechnology and pharmaceutical sciences. MUG is also a member of the Fahrenheit Union of Universities in Gdańsk, together with the University of Gdańsk and Gdańsk University of Technology, and since 2024 has been a member of the European University Alliance ACE²-EU.

With its multidisciplinary expertise, international networks, modern infrastructure and strong links between biomedical research, clinical practice and public health, MUG is well positioned to contribute to international collaborative projects, including EEA-funded initiatives in health, research, innovation, capacity building and knowledge exchange.
