Geoalcali S.L. is a Spanish company developing the Muga Potash Project in the Ebro Valley (Navarra–Aragón), a flagship initiative that supports the EU Green Deal and agricultural resilience. Potash, a key nutrient for fertilizers, is vital to soil health, crop productivity, and Europe’s food security. With over €150 million invested, Geoalcali applies a zero-residue backfilling system, reinjecting extracted material underground to eliminate surface waste and protect natural resources. The project promotes circular resource use, efficient water management, and digital environmental monitoring, ensuring minimal impact and long-term sustainability. Located in one of Spain’s most depopulated rural regions, it will create 800 jobs, strengthen local SMEs, and foster innovation, training, and knowledge exchange. Geoalcali’s model shows how responsible mining can empower agri-food systems, advance rural revitalization, and reinforce Europe’s autonomy in essential raw materials for sustainable agriculture.
