Enabling circular building parts by robotic precision machining of large cross-sections
About
Dalahusgruppen pre-produce and assemble large wood buildings. Disassbly (CE) reqiure additional abilities since efficient connectors for disassembly are different and require more precision in their positioning (+/- 0.5 mm). This requires machining to be done on ready elements, often with large cross sections and sizes
Finding methods to efficiently process (cut) prefabricated building parts of wood with very large cross sections. Very tight tolerances are needed for disassembly and initial assembly to function effectively. Efficient today is a condition for circular economy.
Specialised machinery such as CNC cannot handle the large cross sections and possible irregular shape. Other cutting solutions are needed. Robotics seems a plausible solution and has been applied in cooperation areas.
