About

CET-Hub – Circular Economy Testing Hub for Hospitals aims to promote innovation and the adoption of circular economy solutions and sustainable technologies in hospital environments, fostering decarbonization, optimized waste management, resource efficiency, and operational sustainability. Through collaboration between technology providers, solution developers, and European hospitals, the project seeks to develop, adapt, and validate circular technologies and products that can be safely and effectively integrated into healthcare settings.

To achieve this goal, CET-Hub is planning three complementary work streams:

  1. Redesign and adaptation of hospital solutions: Existing technologies, including Yenxa Professional, will be enhanced to improve functionality, digital interfaces, IoT connectivity, and sensor integration. New sustainable product formulations (e.g., soaps and cleaning agents) will also be developed to comply with hospital hygiene and safety standards. These adaptations will enable hospitals to transform waste streams, such as used vegetable oil, into valuable resources for patient nutrition and hygiene applications.

  2. Testing and validation in hospital environments: Adapted solutions will be implemented in partner hospitals to evaluate performance, usability, safety, and impact, generating robust data on environmental, economic, and operational benefits. This phase will allow iterative refinement of prototypes and adjustment of products and processes to meet the real needs of healthcare facilities.

  3. Implementation and scaling plan: Based on testing results, a comprehensive plan will be developed to replicate and scale circular solutions across European hospitals, fostering intercompany collaboration and creating a sustainable innovation ecosystem in the healthcare sector. This will include technology transfer strategies, staff training, and dissemination of best practices to ensure efficient and sustainable adoption at a larger scale.

CET-Hub positions itself as a strategic hub for circular innovation in hospitals, integrating technologies, processes, and sustainable products to generate long-term environmental, economic, and social benefits.
