Offering Expertise on Systemic and Participatory Design for Circular and Regenerative Cities
Assistant Professor at University of Twente
Enschede, Netherlands
About
I am looking to join a project or consortium focused on supporting cities in their transition toward climate neutrality, circularity, resilience, and long-term social-ecological well-being.
As a systems thinker, product designer, and researcher, I bring expertise in integrating design, sustainability, and planetary health to address complex urban challenges. My work focuses on developing and applying systems design methods, frameworks, and tools to help stakeholders understand and navigate complexity in urban environments, particularly regarding infrastructure, material flows, governance, and human behaviour.
I am especially interested in contributing to projects aligned with the DUT Transition Pathways circular urban economies, but open to other themes. My approach supports interdisciplinary collaboration across academia, industry, municipalities, and civil society, enabling participatory and co-creation processes that translate complexity into actionable strategies for systemic change.
I completed my PhD in Sustainable Design Engineering at Delft University of Technology, where I developed a systems design approach to address complex societal challenges aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Since then, I have worked across Europe, Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Australia, contributing to international research and design collaborations.
In addition to my academic role as Assistant Professor at the University of Twente and co-founder of the Bio-Based Materials Design Lab at the University of Western Australia, I actively engage in international design and sustainability communities, including serving as a juror for the iF DESIGN AWARD, including the IF Social Impact Prize.
I am particularly interested in contributing to consortia that value transdisciplinary approaches, social and systems innovation, and regenerative design practices to create more equitable, resilient, and climate-positive urban futures.
