Overcoming the hard-truths about 15-minute cities
Professor of Sustainable Urban Mobility at Oxford Brookes University

About
Here the interest is in overcoming the hard-truths about 15-minute cities revealed in the EU DUT publication I was involved in compiling.
'Planned for Everyone, Working for Few: Five Hard Truths About Active Travel in 2026', reveals five hard truths about planning for active travel, including results and perspectives from the DUT projects. The five truths draw on recent European research to make a single, pointed argument: if we are serious about the 15-minute city, we must stop treating active travel as a simple good that just needs more encouragement, and start planning it as the complex, multi-modal system it actually is, one that demands precise engineering, genuine governance, and honesty about who our cities are currently designed to serve.
I am interested in collaborating with people and projects that seek to overcome the 'hard truths' outlined in this document.
